More than 15,000 people participated in the anti government demonstration in Bahrdar,Ethiopia Febraury 23/2014. It is called by the main opposition party Andinet/UDJ (Unity for Democracy and Justice) in assocation with All Ethiopia Unity party/AEUP. It is organised as a result of anger arosed when the ruling paty ANDM leader insulted the Amhara people saying they are barefooted,uneducated,... in a public media.
The participants in the rally show them selves as barefoot carryinng thier shoe,crossing thier hands symbolizing jails of people,,journalists in the country is not fair.The party leaders who were in jail following the 2005 election and the city dwellers created intense message and warnning for the ruler carrying Slogans such as "Victory to the people", "being barefoot is better than empty mind", "ANDM stop violeting public freedom","fed up of the Ethiopian government"
