The properties of hundreds of business people have been burnt down after a fire broke out two days ago in a trade centre known as Shewaber Mebrat Haile Campus in Harar, Eastern Ethiopia.
The business people say the fire was premeditated and intentionally caused by officials of the region’s administration. The businesses have been repeatedly told to leave the area and the fact that the fire brigade arrived very late proves that the administration caused it, said traders that ESAT spoke to.
People who took to the streets opposing the acts, have been dispersed by the Federal Police, the residents told ESAT.
Previously, a large scale fire broke out in the same trade centre also destroying properties.
