The killer of Ethiopian arrested in SouthAfrica

South African police said the Maletswai Crime Prevention apprehended a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of an unnamed Ethiopian national.


A statement from the police said that it is “alleged on Saturday 28 February 2015, at about 22:10, the deceased, aged 27, was in his shop at Nkaiseng General dealer in Maletswai, when an intruder entered the shop, stabbed him to death.” The suspect was found in possession of airtime and money that was stolen during the incident.
The suspect appeared on 03 March 2015 in the Aliwal North Magistrate’s Court “on a charge of murder”, the statement said. The case was remanded for Tuesday 10 March 2015 for possible bail application. The suspect will remain in custody until then.
Two Ethiopians were gunned down in the first week of February in what was believed to be another xenophobia attack in South Africa, according to South African.
The two victims, who ran a truck shop, were shot dead on Monday night by a group of armed men in Inchanga, west of Durban in eastern South Africa, said Willis Mchunu, a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Community Safety and Liaison in Inchanga.
