Family sues minister for ‘deserting’ Briton in Ethiopian jail


Andargachew Tsege is at risk of torture in Ethiopia, his family said
The TIMES: Jerome Starkey Africa Correspondent, April 3 2015 – The family of a British man who has spent nine months on death row in Ethiopia after he was “abducted in transit” in a Yemen airport are suing Philip Hammond, the foreign secretary, for failing to treat the case as kidnapping and torture and demand his release.

Andargachew Tsege disappeared in Sanaa, the Yemeni capital, during a two-hour stopover as he travelled from Dubai to Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, on June 23 last year.
He was flown to Ethiopia – which is given £350 million a year in British aid – and held for two weeks without access to lawyers….
