Ethiopia: VOA Amharic Distortion Scandal Worsening
Concerned Ethiopians have continued to express outrage over the deliberate distortion broadcast on August 12, 2014. The glaring distortions regarding the decision of Azusa Pacific University, a California-based Christian university, to revoke an honor it had already bestowed on Hailemariam Desalegn, needed corrections. But instead of correcting the mistakes and moving on,VOA bosses tried to correct the mistakes with blunders. ESAT Radio looks at the bizarre and false VOA story that Henok Semaegzer Fente produced with the help of Peter Heinlein and the Amharic section head, who resisted taking reasonable steps to resolve the crisis rather than worsening it.
