The House of Common in the United kingdom had a debate yesterday on December 20, 2016, at Westminster hall to put pressure on the Ethiopian government to release Andargachew Tsege. The debate was initiated by Tom Brake, a British Liberal Democrat and the member of parliament, who represents the constituencies in the southwest London.
In his debate presentation at the House of Common, the honorable MP, Mr. Brake has strongly criticized the UK government for its handling of Andy Tsege's case. He said that the United Kingdom’s approach of Andy’s case is appears to be ignore that fact that Andargachew Tsege is the victim of the crimes but not he himself is a criminal. He further points out the failure of the UK government for not asking the Ethiopian government to release him without any preconditions.
In his response for the question that was asked by one of his fellow MPs, Mr. Brake has discredited the fabricated narrative that has been claimed by both the Ethiopian and Yemeni governments about the legality of Andy’s abduction from Sanaa International airport while he was in a transit flight. The honorable MP said that the UK government have repeatedly asked both the Ethiopian and Yemeni authorities to provide a copy of the extradition treaty that exist between the two governments however he said that the document has never been provided to the UK government whatsoever.
In addition , the majority of MPs who attended the debate are condemn the Ethiopian government's illegal abduction of Andargachew Tsege and called for his immediate release. Members of Parliaments also said that there is no any evidence presented by any country or government that Andy or his political party, Ginbot 7, has ever involved in a terrorist activity.
